Cutting down our Christmas tree

We hiked up in the hills by Grandma Jo's house to pick out our Christmas tree. It was lots of fun--not too cold and not too much snow to hike through. Ours ended up being 14 feet tall! We measured once we got it home. It looked so tiny in the forest! Thank goodness we have vaulted ceilings!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Aubri's Pilgrimage

So Aubri woke me up one morning to tell me she "just had to" dress up as a Pilgrim for school that day. No, it was not a requirement, but Aubri wanted to dress up since they were making Pilgrim houses and various activities that day. So out came the sewing machine, and we ended up with an apron and coif (that is the hankerchief thing that they wear on their heads--yes we looked up the name of it!). She wore her getup to school and throughout the whole day--the only person dressed up. That is my Aubri--no cares for what anyone thinks of her style...

Halloween

So Aubri went from being a vampire cheerleader (at our ward trunk or treat) to a rock star (on actual Halloween). Blake went from being Boba Fett (at trunk or treat) to opting to stay home and pass out candy on actual Halloween. I think it was because he got to be on candle lighting duty with the jack-o-lanterns...so Fire vs. Candy....candy didn't stand a chance!

Happy Birthday Aubri!

We started out with a birthday breakfast of rolly-rolly pancakes. Then fresh snow (as ordered by the birthday girl). And a room full of balloons as a surprise after school.
That weekend we went horseback riding--even though it was pretty cold, the kids had fun and seemed to love it. The place we went was the same place the animators from the movie Spirit came to film horses to draw for the movie. The horse Aubri rode was the exact horse that inspired "Rain" Spirit's girlfriend in the movie. Cool!

Cornbelly's

So Grandma Jo took us to Cornbellys, which is a really fun Pumpkin Patch/Carnival/Fall Extravaganza type thing. We watched pig races, rode the mechanical bull, shot paintball guns (my kids are really good shots--scary), went in a 3-D haunted house, rode on a cow (train), dressed up like a princess (well Aubri anyway), pedaled a tractor, roped a steer (except that Aubri kept roping herself), ate yummy fried food (including foot-long corndogs), got lost in the corn maze, shot corn and pumpkins out of cannons and slingshots, and picked out huge pumpkins to bring home. Phew! What a fun day... P.S. Note Blake and his "Rupp tongue" during moments of intense concentration...too funny!
